The mission of the Borash Veterinary Clinic in Peabody is to provide the community with affordable, quality veterinary care to a variety of patients requiring preventative, medical and surgical services. Over the years Dr. Borash and his staff have built the clinic into a progressive small animal practice serving all local communities.
Dr. Myles Borash started the Borash Veterinary Clinic in 1979 after graduating from The Ohio State University with his DVM in 1973. Dr Borash has special interests in soft tissue, orthopedic and dental surgeries. Over the years he has been involved in many interesting and unusual cases! There is not much “Doc” hasn’t seen… Dr. Borash takes a practical approach to treatment plans and is happy to consult with clients about routine preventative care or complex medical or surgical cases. Dr. Borash is also proud to have maintained a stray animal adoption program in the city, helping animals of all kinds find new homes. When he is away from the clinic he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, and he is a competitive windsurfer! He competes at various events throughout the year, you may even spot him sailing in the harbor on a windy day!
Dr. Rick Southgate is a 2008 graduate of Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Southgate joined the practice as an associate veterinarian in April of 2013. Prior to attending veterinary school, he worked as veterinary technician locally and in traveled to Alaska to work with the Iditarod sled dogs!. He is actively involved with the Veterinary Association of the North Shore (VANS) and has special interests in dermatology and oncology cases. Dr. Southgate is easy to get along with, very conscientious about each patients health and well being, and always takes time to explain things thoroughly. He also enjoys golfing, and spending time with his wife and son (and another on the way!).
The hospital functions seven days per week with a dedicated staff consisting of veterinarians, a head certified veterinary technician (Jody), an Inventory Manager & Client Liaison (Rita), veterinary technicians (Sarah, Renee, & Melissa) medical receptionists (Amanda, Danielle, & Aimee) veterinary assistants (Janelle, & Dominque) and kennel assistants (Shauna, Courtney, Lindsay, & Jesse). We are proud to employ an excellent staff that takes great pride in caring for our patients! They ensure each pet receives the same optimal care they would want their own pet to receive.
Does this animal mural look familiar?
You have probably stood under it in the front office! It is located on the eve above the front desk. The mural was painted in 2002 by a former employee, Emily Jones, who was studying art at Montserrat College. The animals depicted are all pets that belonged to staff members or clients. The yellow lab pictured in the center was Dr Borash’s dog Sam. The menagerie represents the variety of patients we provide medical care to on a daily basis. The mural serves as a tribute to all beloved companions who we have lost, that we still keep close to our heart.
