Veterinary Pet Surgery

At Borash Veterinary Clinic, we understand surgery is a scary thought. Our medical team is highly experienced in a range of general and advanced surgical procedures. To ensure our patients are well enough to undergo surgery and anesthesia, pre-surgical exam and blood work are taken before every procedure. When considering the optimal course of treatment for your pet, we review all factors including your pet's age, gender, size, breed, and lifestyle. Our doctors discuss all possible treatment options with you so you can work together to make the best decision for your pet's health and quality of life.

Spay/Neuter Procedure

Our professional recommendation is for all pets to undergo spay/neuter procedure. This is a routine surgery that provides copious benefits for pets and their human family members.

The health and behavioral benefits of spaying or neutering your pet are impressive. For instance, did you know this procedure actually improves your pet's health and adds years to their life?

Spay/neuter procedure, of course, eliminates the chances of unwanted litters. It also reduces sexual instincts that lead to undesirable behaviors, lessens the risk for infection and disease, helps control pet overpopulation, and promotes an all-around better companion for you and your family!

Laser Surgery

Laser surgery offers an alternative approach to traditional surgical methods. The great thing about surgical laser is that it lessens pain, inflammation, blood loss, risk of infection, and allows for faster healing and recovery.

Traditionally, an incision is created using a scalpel blade. With surgical laser, incisions are made with a strong beam of light that effectively removes tissue and simultaneously seals blood cells and nerve endings. The laser can be precisely controlled allowing only a thin layer of tissue to be removed, leaving the surrounding area unaffected.

Advantages of Surgical Laser:

  • Pain Reduction: The laser seals nerve endings as it cuts. This results in decreased pain for our special friends.
  • Reduced Swelling: Laser energy does not crush, tear, or bruise tissue because the only thing that touches your pet is an invisible beam of light.
  • Control of Infection: The laser beam operates at a temperature of over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Essentially, bacteria are vaporized by contact with the laser beam. This makes it highly effective at killing bacteria that have the potential to cause infection. This is particularly important in areas where it is difficult to prevent bacteria from contaminating the surgical site.
  • Precision: The laser can remove unhealthy tissue while minimizing adverse effects to healthy surrounding tissue.
  • Less Bleeding: The laser seals small blood vessels during surgery, which allows your doctor to perform surgeries with extraordinary precision. This also speeds some procedures, which reduces the amount of anesthesia required. A laser is ideal for a wide variety of surgical procedures for dogs, cats, horses and exotics. Laser surgery can correct many common conditions such as cysts, tumors, warts, and special procedures around the eyes, ears and mouth. Specialized internal procedures are also possible with a laser.
  • Shorter Recovery Time: Less swelling, bleeding, and post-operative discomfort results in a shorter recovery period for your pet.

    Orthopedic Procedures

Orthopedic procedures correct injuries involving the bones, joints, and spine. Our medical team commonly performs orthopedic surgeries to treat issues such as bone breaks, fractures, and dislocations.

    Soft-Tissue Procedures

The veterinarians at Borash Veterinary Clinic are highly trained and experienced in a range of basic and complex soft-tissue procedures. In general, this encompasses all procedures that do not relate to orthopedics, including: spay/neuter procedure, foreign body removal, mass removal, trauma and laceration repair, abdominal exploratory, and much more.

    Root Canal Therapy

At times, root canal therapy can be performed in place of a routine extraction. Root canal therapy is recommended for pets with inflamed fractured, broken, or discolored teeth. This is extremely painful and if left untreated, puts pets at risk for greater infection and discomfort.

    Bonding

Dental bonding is performed to relieve pets of painful fractured teeth. This is a method of restoring the tooth with a protective sealant.

Our trained veterinarians perform many different forms of advanced surgeries. Here are some of the surgical procedures that are available at our clinic:
